Stephan Stilgenbauer, M.D.

Dr. Stephan Stilgenbauer received his medical training at Ruprecht-Karls Universität
Heidelberg Medical School, Germany with electives in Hamilton, Canada; Jerusalem,
Israel; Bath, UK and Cambridge, UK. He completed his final year at the Baylor
College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. Dr.
Stilgenbauer is currently associate Professor of Medicine at the Department of
Internal Medicine III (Hematology, Oncology and Rheumatology) at the University
of Ulm, Germany. His scientific activity is focused on the investigation of molecular
factors in pathogenesis, prognosis and treatment of CLL and other lymphomas. He
is the study co-ordinator of several trials of the German CLL Study Group with
particular focus on risk-stratified therapy, stem cell transplantation, and refractory
CLL. He is a member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hämatologie und
Onkologie (DGHO), the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and the
American Society of Hematology (ASH). He has authored or coauthored numerous original
articles, reviews and book chapters in journals such as the N Engl J Med, Nature
Medicine, J Clin Oncol, Blood, Leukemia, Oncogene, and Haematologica.
