Anders Österborg, M.D.

Dr. Anders Österborg is Professor of Oncology at the Karolinska Hospital
and Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. His main areas of research are immunology
and immunotherapy of lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia,
multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. His research explores the characteristics
and immune regulation of the tumor clone in B-cell lymphoproliferative diseases
and is actively involved in the development of immunotherapeutics, including monoclonal
antibody therapy, tumor vaccines, and small molecules in a translational setting.
He is also involved in anemia research in these disorders and the development
of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents and their optimal use.
Dr. Österborg has been principal investigator in numerous international
collaborative clinical trials. He has lectured extensively at international conferences
and has organized several international CME courses that discuss the role of immunotherapy
in treating lymphoproliferative disorders. He is the head of the haematology branch
of the Karolinska Institute Cancer (KIC) network. He has published more than 195
original research articles and textbook chapters in the areas of hematology and
oncology, and he is the editor of Medical Oncology.
