Susan O'Brien, M.D.

Dr. Susan O'Brien is a professor of medicine in the Department of Leukemia
at the University of Texas (UT) MD Anderson Cancer Center. She received her
bachelor's degree from Mount Holyoke College and her medical degree from University
of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School. She completed her fellowship
in oncology at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is board certified in internal
medicine and oncology.
In addition to academic appointments, Dr. O'Brien also has various administrative
responsibilities at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, being a Chair of the IRB
(Institutional Review Board), and a Special Assistant to the Physician-in-Chief.
Her research interests include investigations of new agents for the treatment
of chronic myelogenous leukemia and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Dr. O'Brien is involved with several professional organizations such as the
American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Hematology and the
American Society of Clinical Oncology. She has authored and co-authored over 400
peer reviewed articles published in journals such as New England Journal of
Medicine, Blood, Cancer, Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology.
