Helen Heslop, M.D. is Director of the Adult Hemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant
Unit and a Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics in the Center for Cell and Gene
Therapy. Her research interests are in adoptive immunotherapy for malignancy and
viral infections, and she oversees several peer-reviewed clinical research projects,
including an NCI-funded program project grant (Enhancing T-Cell Therapy of Cancer,
CA 94237) and A SPORE in Lymphoma and a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Specialized
Center of Research (SCOR) award (Immunotherapy of Lymphoma). Dr. Heslop was a
Doris Duke Distinguished Clinical Scientist and has extensive experience in mentoring
both clinical and laboratory trainees. She is also the principal investigator
on an NHLBI-funded training grant in Cell and Gene Therapy. She is past President
of the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation and vice President
of the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy. She has extensive experience
with clinical cell therapy studies, currently holding 8 cell therapy INDs.
