Lynne V. Abruzzo, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Abruzzo is currently Professor in the Department of Hematopathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Abruzzo received her Ph.D. degree in Pathology and her M.D. degree with Honors from the University of Chicago, followed by residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Michigan. She completed a Hematopathology Fellowship in the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, and then spent two additional years at the NIH receiving research training in molecular biology. This was followed by one year as a Staff Pathologist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and four years on the faculty of the University of Maryland. Dr. Abruzzo joined the faculty of the U.T. MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1999 as a hematopathologist. While at MD Anderson, she also completed a fellowship in Clinical Cytogenetics at the Baylor College of Medicine. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology, and Clinical Cytogenetics. Since has served as the Medical Director of the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory since 2005.
